  • Contrary to some conventional conceptions, acne is a problem suffered not exclusively by teenagers. Some people are plagued their whole lives with constant outbreaks of acne. The hair follicles, or pores, in our skin are connected with oil glands called sebaceous glands. These glands produce sebum, an oily substance that lubricates our hair and skin. At the same time, dead skin cells are expelled from the pore lining while sebum is being distributed to the exterior surface of the skin.

Most of the time the glands produce the right amount of sebum and the pores are fine. But sometimes when too much sebum is produced, a pore or two may become clogged.

This plug blocks the pore, preventing the sebum or dead skin cells from leaving the pore. The situation could further be aggravated by a build-up of bacteria that live on sebum. This leads to swelling around the pore and acne is the result. This could happen to anybody, young and old.

Acne treatment is multifactorial and includes proper topical agents to encourage cellular turnover as well as treatment to eliminate the overgrowth of bacteria in the pores. This is often done with oral antibiotics or hormone altering treatments.

At Marina Park Plastics, we offer BBL Forever Clear, in addition to a comprehensive skincare consultation. BBL Forever Clear is an attractive alternative tratment as it kills the facial bacteria without the systemic side effects experienced with oral medications. Sciton’s Forever Clear BBL™ treatment uses a combination of blue, yellow, and infra-red light to eliminate bacteria, reduce inflammation, and promote the body’s natural healing process. This FDA approved treatment for acne uses Sciton’s latest laser technology to cleanse the clogged pores that are causing the acne. It also triggers the body’s natural production of collagen. The end result is clear, tightened, healthy and rejuvenated skin.

  • Age spots are also known as photodamage, and are the result of ultraviolet light exposure. UV light causes negative cellular changes to occur leading to pigmented spots, broken blood vessels and precancerous lesions. Skin appears pigmented and sallow, with loss of tone. Broadband Light (BBL) treatments are designed to combat the effects of aging and help maintain younger skin properties.

The BBL procedure reverses many of the negative cell changes effectively alters the expression of the cells genetic material, leading to healthier skin. Periodic BBL treatments keep your skin looking youthful, clear and smooth.

A series of BBL treatments can offer many of the same benefits of a medium depth laser resurfacing or chemical peel without blisters, burns or long recovery time.
